Inside ACA · A sample program update
The work behind
the working software.
What does practical software education look like? A team, a real problem, and someone experienced enough to ask the next good question.
At Africa Code Academy, developers spend 20 weeks building in teams with Technical Leads. They write and review code, test their decisions, and learn how to use AI tools with engineering judgment. The aim is experience they can carry into professional work.
A voice from the program
“The program gave me ultimate hands-on training, supportive mentors, and standards that go beyond design, code, and tests.”
The record so far
- 79 developers trained. 65 graduates and 14 devs in the 2026 cohort.
- 28 jobs created. Through the Academy and Foundry.
- 27 products built. Across Academy cohorts from 2021 through 2025.
These are ACA’s published program figures. You can explore the impact record, meet alumni, and look through the cohorts and their projects.
What keeps the work going
Scholarships create room to learn. Equipment gives developers tools to work with. Mentorship helps them turn practice into professional habits. Donations support those needs together with program operations in Lesotho and Botswana.
If this is work you want to support, a gift of any amount from $5 contributes. Monthly giving is available for people who would like to help regularly.
