Who operates this site

Africa Code Academy Inc. (“ACA,” “we,” or “us”) is a California nonprofit corporation and 501(c)(3) organization, EIN 82-2131888. Our mailing address is 567 Bryson Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94306, United States. Contact us at [email protected].

Information we collect

Ordinary site use. You can read the site without creating an account. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, receives ordinary request information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, referring page, and request time.

Email and program inquiries. When you email ACA, we receive the address you use, your message, and any information or files you choose to include. Application-related email may also include professional, educational, portfolio, or other information you voluntarily provide.

Donations. Gifts on /give/ are processed by Stripe. Stripe may collect your name, email, payment details, donation amount, and billing address. ACA receives donor and donation records from Stripe but does not receive full card numbers. After Stripe confirms a gift, the website uses the Checkout Session identifier to display a charitable contribution acknowledgment containing the contribution date, amount, and Stripe confirmation number; it does not expose donor identity. The /donate/ page still uses Give Lively, which may collect name, contact details, donation amount and date, payment-related information, dedication information, and preferences you select.

Optional program updates

If you request program updates, we collect your email address, the signup time and consent wording version, confirmation status, and any unsubscribe request. We use this information to send the updates you asked for, including program stories and ways to support ACA. Donating does not subscribe you. We require email confirmation before adding you to the active updates list.

Cloudflare stores signup records and processes confirmation email delivery. Its Turnstile service checks signup requests for abuse and may process browser and device signals and your IP address. Our application uses short-lived keyed hashes for request limits; it does not store raw IP addresses in the subscriber database. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Every program update includes an unsubscribe link. You can also contact [email protected] to stop updates or request deletion. Unconfirmed requests are removed through routine cleanup after seven days. We retain confirmed signup records while you subscribe and a suppression record after you unsubscribe so we can honor your choice. We do not sell the updates list or send email addresses to Google Ads through this signup form.

Ejecto for macOS

Ejecto does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal data. The app has no accounts, analytics, advertising, tracking technology, or third-party software development kits.

Ejecto stores only its settings and volume-management preferences on your Mac. Volume names and identifiers are used on-device to remember the volumes you choose to manage and are not sent to ACA or any other party. This local information remains until you clear it in Ejecto or remove the app’s container from your Mac.

Ejecto’s optional donation action opens ACA’s secure /give/ page in the user’s default browser, outside the app. Ejecto has no embedded web content and does not access, receive, or store browsing activity, payment details, donor records, or donation amounts.

How we use information

  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the site.
  • Respond to program, partnership, hiring, mentorship, and general inquiries.
  • Administer applications and communicate about Academy program cycles.
  • Process, acknowledge, account for, and report charitable donations.
  • Meet legal, tax, fraud-prevention, and nonprofit recordkeeping obligations.

ACA does not sell personal information and does not use the site for behavioral advertising.

Service providers and embedded content

Cloudflare hosts and secures the site and processes network and request data under its privacy policy.

Stripe processes gifts on /give/ under the Stripe privacy policy.

Give Lively still provides the form on /donate/ and shares donor information with ACA. Give Lively and its payment partners describe their practices in the Give Lively privacy policy.

Google Ads receives a donation conversion (amount and click identifiers such as gclid) when a gift started from a Google Ad is completed, so ACA can see which ads led to donations. The Google tag loads on /give/ and /give/thanks/, and a conversion event fires on the thank-you page after Stripe confirms payment. See the Google Privacy Policy.

YouTube provides an embedded testimonial video using its privacy-enhanced domain. Loading or playing the video sends request information such as IP address, browser details, and the page URL to Google, and interacting with YouTube may associate viewing activity with your browser or Google account. See the Google Privacy Policy.

Links to LinkedIn, Instagram, GitHub, and project sites take you to services ACA does not control. Their privacy practices apply after you visit them.

Cookies and analytics

ACA does not run a first-party analytics service or advertising pixels for general browsing. If you arrive from a Google Ad, we store the click identifiers from the URL (such as gclid) in a first-party cookie so a completed gift can be reported as a Donate conversion. The Google tag loads on /give/ pages so Google Ads can measure that funnel; a conversion event fires on /give/thanks/ after a paid gift. Site fonts and logos are hosted locally. Stripe Checkout, Give Lively, Google’s conversion tag, and YouTube may use cookies under their own policies.

Retention and security

We retain correspondence and application information for as long as reasonably needed to respond, administer a program cycle, maintain appropriate alumni or partnership records, and meet legal obligations. Donation and financial records may be kept for the periods required by tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and nonprofit law. Our service providers keep information under their own retention schedules. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You may ask ACA to provide, correct, or delete personal information we control, or object to certain uses, by emailing [email protected]. We may need to verify your request and may retain information when required by law or necessary for legitimate nonprofit records. For donation payment data or Google account activity, contact the relevant provider directly or use its privacy controls.

Children and international visitors

This site is not directed to children under 13, and ACA does not knowingly collect their personal information through the site. ACA and several providers are based in the United States, so information submitted from another country may be processed in the United States or other locations where those providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site, program, or service providers change. We will publish the revised policy here and update the date above.
